Spay Day
Today, February 28th, is Spay Day. Spay Day USA is a national campaign begun by the Doris Day Animal Foundation in order to save the lives of homeless animals through the spay or neuter of our pets and feral cats.
Spay Day was first kicked off in 1995, and since then has saved millions of animals' lives.
This year Spay Day is partnered with Pets911, and is sponsored by Build-a-Bear Workshop, Natural Life Pet Products, and Datemypet.com.
Spay Day USA 2005 events were held nationwide in 48 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico.
As if potentially saving an animal's life were not enough, prizes will be awarded for both event organizers and individuals. These prizes include items like AVID microchips and a scanner, a collection of Doris Day movies, artwork by David Chance, and a $500 shopping spree at the Pampered Pup, in West Palm Beach, Florida.
If you have no pets to spay or neuter, or have done so already and wish to donate to the Doris Day Animal Foundation, you may click here for details.
